The Best Sneakers for Spring 2022

Updated: Mar 27, 2022

For those of us closer toward the equator, it is beginning to feel like Winter is over (if it ever felt like winter in the first place), and with the First official Day of Spring upon us, what better way to celebrate than to buy a new pair of kicks? Today, I’ll give my personal favorite Spring shoes, and as always, where to purchase them.

Nike ACG Moc 3.0

$60-140

When I think of Spring fashion, less typically is more. You want to shed the heavy winter layers and opt for comfort, while still maintaining some warmth for the April showers (and March blizzards for those up north). The ACG Moc allows for just that. They are extremely lightweight, and with the low rise can be paired with shorts for the warm days and sweats for the cooler ones. When it comes to the aforementioned showers, your feet will stay nice and dry. ACG is Nike’s outdoor branch well known for hiking gear which means the shoes they make are built for all weather conditions. The comforter like upper ensures your feet can stay warm, but its’ breathability ensures you want have swamp feet. The best part to me, is the fact that it is indeed a laceless moccasin. This ensures absolute convenience. You can feel like a kid again and quickly slip on your shoes to go enjoy some much needed outdoor time after the long winter. Your best bet to find these for the cheapest would be GOAT.

Nike Fear of God Moc

$60-130

I'm sure you've picked up on a bit of a theme here, but what can I say, moccasins and this season go together like Springtime and obligatory cleaning. Furthermore, minimalism has always been a Spring fashion staple, and this has not changed in 2022. Minimalism just happens to be Fear of God's aesthetic. Voila, a match made in heaven. These mocs have a loose casual fit, but the strap and heel pull in the back give it a snug fit where it needs to be. These come in a variety of colors from light gray to light pink, giving them an Easter Candy feel. The rectangular air bubble in the heel gives added padding and comfort, while the lack of other details adheres to the minimalistic silhouette. The greatest part of about these are they can be found on any of the Casual Sneakerheads top shoe sites (https://casualsneakerheads.wixsite.com/website/post/a-casual-sneakerhead-s-guide-to-the-best-online-sneaker-sites)

Nike Air Skylon 2

$50-120

These shoes are just plain fun. Originally a runner introduced in the 90’s, they offer bright Spring colors, plenty of comfort and a light look that pairs well with shorts. Spring is a great time to get outdoors and enjoy some vitamin D after being stuck inside like a gremlin during the long Winter months, and when it comes to a shoe for a casual jaunt around a park or downtown for some shopping, the Skylon 2 is undefeated. As a low cut shoe, it is perfect for Spring and no show socks so you can get a head start on a tan (for those of you with less melanin), but its bright colors mean that with a simple t-shirt and shorts combo, and can still make your outfit stand out. While the Skylon can be found just about anywhere, GOAT is the best place to find them for cheap.

Nike Nikelab Zoom Fly

$35-130

I get it. Exercising during the winter months can be a grind. Even if you have the comfort of a nice warm gym, when it's snowing and cold outside, it’s hard to self-motivate to get up and brave the drive and the cold. But with the weather warming up it’s time to get back out there and get that Summer beach bod you're always dreaming about. Enter the Zoom fly. This shoe made by the famous Nikelab is impossibly light. As an owner of a pair, words simply don’t do justice to how sheer these shoes feel on foot. Speaking of sheer, the upper is made from neoprene and is actually translucent, so the color of your socks can help influence the color the shoe appears. This means for the most part, you can match the shoe to whatever outfit you put on. Any weight the shoe does have is due to the ultra cushioned sole, that gives buoyancy to every step. You’ll have a hard time stopping yourself from getting up and going for a run in these. For whatever reason, maybe due to the Air Pegasus that also released at the time, these shoes quickly lost their hype. As a reader of this blog you know that that is always good news for a casual sneakerhead. The price for this amazing shoe can be ridiculously low if you do the smallest amount of digging. I would start with eBay, but from there the internet is your oyster.

Nike Air Max Torch 4

$45-160

I feel I would be deeply remiss if a Spring shoe list did not include at least one dad shoe. The image of dads everywhere dusting off their trusty pair of shoes to christen them for the first lawn mowing of the year is as iconic to sneaker heads as the Easter bunny to children. While you don’t have to use these shoes for mowing your lawn, although you certainly could, it earns its place in the pantheon of dad shoes due to its insane comfort. The extended air bubble gives a soft cushion that allows your feet to sink into the shoe. What makes it the superior dad shoe is that it is not overly chunky. Obviously this comes with a territory, but it is a shoe that goes with any amount of dad swag, shorts, a plain baggy tee shirt, and white socks. As an older shoe, there isn't too much of a market for these, and so it is not too difficult to find them on sites like eBay and Depop.

As Always, happy shopping Seakerheads!
